Dublin, London, Amsterdam, Brussels…

The novices in 2nd year have been scattered to the four winds. Jos has been sent to Amsterdam to work in the Krijtberg city centre church. Bart is working with Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS) in Brussels. Ronan is in London with JRS and Jesuit Media Initiatives (who have an eyecatching new website). Niall is in Dublin doing a hospital chaplaincy course.

The saying goes that nobody joins the Jesuits to be a novice. This 3 month work placement, known as “the long experiment”, is designed to offer a prolonged period of work in the world as a Jesuit. Aswell as learning on the job, we absorb a lot from living with Jesuits whose lived knowledge of apostolic life are a source of both consolation and inspiration.
